The Brazilian Buttock Augmentation is a cosmetic procedure for women that want to increase the size, lift, firm, or enhance the contour of their buttocks. It can give women natural-looking results that correct proportional imbalances and improve the overall shape of the buttocks. Women can also select to remove fat from specific target areas, including the abdomen, thighs, back, hips, and chest. Candidates for the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure must be at a healthy weight, possess relatively firm and elastic skin, and have realistic expectations.
How is the Brazilian Buttock Augmentation Performed?
The Brazilian Butt Lift is usually performed on an outpatient basis, requiring between 90 minutes and four hours to complete. The amount of surgery time varies depending on the amount of fat removed, the number of treatment areas, and the patient’s desired shape or size. The most common techniques that are used to perform this procedure are tumescent lipo-sculpturing and autologous fat transfer.
To begin the procedure, the surgeon injects a tumescent fluid into the intended treatment area. Tumescent fluid consists of a blend of local anesthetics and adrenaline hormones, which is responsible for numbing the body region. The fluid is also a tremendous aid in controlling bleeding and making the procedure more comfortable. The surgeon will then use a blunt, tubular medical instrument called a cannula to suction the fat from the desired area.
Once the fat has been removed through tumescent lipo-sculpturing, it is collected and washed with a double antibiotic solution to sterilize it. Next, the fat is placed in syringes that are connected to a unique cannula for autologous fat transfer. Carefully, the fat is injected into the deep fat and muscles of the buttocks. As a result, patients are given the characteristic Brazilian Butt Lift.

Post Surgery Results
After the procedure is performed, it is common for the patient to experience some minor bruising, swelling, and discomfort. It is also normal for patients to have a loss of sensation in the treated areas, but this will be restored shortly as the nerves recover. Swelling may last for several months. Pain medication can also be prescribed by the surgeon to minimize any pain or discomfort that the patient experiences. It is essential that patients have a friend or family member drive them home and take care of them for the first day. Each patient has different recovery periods after receiving the Brazilian Butt Lift, but all patients should be up and walking around within 24 hours.
It is essential that patients remember to avoid sitting on the buttocks as much as possible for the first few weeks, as well as take precautions by sleeping on their stomach or sides. Based on the number of treatments received, normal activities may not be resumed for the first week. Patients will also need to wear a compression garment for the first month to allow proper healing and an enhanced contour. It is important to understand that the body will naturally reabsorb some percentage of the grafted fat with studies reporting up to 50% loss, therefore your surgeon may “over-correct” the area to account for this. The final results typically appear after 3 to 6 months, and the newly sculptured appearance should maintain for life.
