Slough away dull, dead skin cells to reveal a bright and radiant complexion. Chemical peels allow our patients to unleash their healthiest skin in no time. What Are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are a safe and effective way to refresh and rejuvenate the skin on your face. A chemical-based solution is gently applied to the face which causes the old skin to blister and slough off. The skin underneath is brand new, fresh, and vibrant. While man patients receive chemical peels to get rid of their dull appearance, they are also great for wrinkle removal and acne scar reduction. After the chemical peel treatment, be sure to limit sun exposure as your skin will be sensitive to sunlight.
How Much Do Chemical Peels Cost in Houston, TX?
The average cost of a chemical peel in Houston typically ranges from $150-$850. The total cost for your chemical peel treatment will depend on factors such as your surgeon’s fee, the location of your procedure, and other miscellaneous medical expenses. At Heights Plastic Surgery, we accept cash and all major credit cards. We are also happy to offer financing through CareCredit® for patients.
How Are Chemical Peels Performed?
Before Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks begins your chemical peel, she will prep your skin by washing it thoroughly and removing any surface oils or dirt that may be left on the face. Additionally, Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks will take measures to protect your eyes and hair during the procedure. They will then systematically apply the chemical solution to small parts of the face until your entire face is covered evenly. Small, controlled burns will be produced by the chemicals, leaving behind the beautiful fresh skin. Many patients receiving a superficial or medium-depth chemical peel report a warm or hot sensation during the procedure. Deep chemical peels may involve some stinging, and Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks may prescribe pain medication.

What Can I Expect During My Chemical Peel Recovery?
Most patients experience a recovery similar to that of a sunburn, which includes redness, swelling, and peeling. There may be a few days to a few weeks (depending on the depth of the peel) that involve scaling. Many patients like to stay in the house for about a week or two after the peel. Depending on how deep the peel is, some patients may need to be bandaged for several days. Since the new skin is very fresh and fragile, patients should avoid the sun during the healing process.
To assist in recovery, Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks may prescribe medications and cremes which help to enhance the effectiveness of the peel and reduce any potential abnormal healing. After a period of time, the new skin will be strong, beautiful, and healthy. The chemical peel procedure is unique to each patient, as different types of skin will need different types of acid solutions. Before your chemical peel, Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks will consult you and examine your skin to decide which procedure is best for you. The consultation is a great time to ask Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks any specific questions about the process of the procedure and the recovery.
