CoolSculpting® in Houston, TX

What is CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is an innovative, non-invasive, and non-surgical body contouring treatment that uses controlled cool temperatures to eliminate stubborn fat from the body. The CoolSculpting® system uses cutting-edge technology to get rid of your unwanted fat through a process called cryolipolysis, which freezes your targeted fat and allows it to naturally pass through your system. Dr. Cara Downey is one of the leading female board-certified plastic surgeons in east Texas. Her nearly 15 years of experience has allowed her to successfully craft more than 100 CoolSculpting® results to men and women in the greater Houston area.

How Much Does CoolSculpting® Cost in Houston, TX?

The average cost of CoolSculpting® in Houston typically starts at $750 per session. The total cost for your CoolSculpting® treatment will depend on factors such as your surgeon’s fee, the location of your procedure, the number of treatments needed to achieve your desired results, and other miscellaneous medical expenses. At Heights Plastic Surgery, we accept cash and all major credit cards. We are also happy to offer financing through CareCredit® for patients. Because CoolSculpting® is typically more about cosmetic appearance and is less of a medical necessity, it is not covered by most insurance plans.

How is CoolSculpting® Performed?

Each CoolSculpting® session takes between 35 minutes and one hour to complete and does not require the use of anesthesia or sedatives. The length of each CoolSculpting® treatment session will depend on the number of areas to treat on the body. Popular treatment areas include:

  • Chin (double chin)
  • Neck
  • Back (bra area)
  • Arms
  • Abdomen
  • Thighs
  • Buttocks

CoolSculpting® uses a technique called cryolipolysis, a process that uses cold temperatures to crystallize and destroy fat cells. A cool gel pad will placed on the skin before the CoolSculpting® applicator is used on the targeted areas for treatment. You can expect to feel a little pressure once your procedure begins. The applicator creates a vacuum that pulls the fatty tissue between the cooling panels. Fat then breaks down and eventually dissipates altogether at the cold temperatures.

What Can I Expect During My CoolSculpting® Recovery?

Because CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical procedure, you will be able to return to normal activities such as work, driving, and exercise immediately following your treatment. CoolSculpting® is an FDA-approved procedure that yields permanent results within 12 weeks after the initial treatment. Your results may start to become visible within four weeks of your initial treatment. Final results can be seen after about six months, once the full treatment is complete. Dr. Downey and her team of professionals may suggest you receive multiple CoolSculpting® treatments to achieve your desired results.

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is not a weight-loss procedure; rather, it is a procedure to help patients with an already healthy and active lifestyle supplement their proper diet and regular exercise routine. For the procedure to take effect, you must be close to your ideal body weight. CoolSculpting® is best utilized to remove stubborn pockets of fat from the body. Patients who have or are currently experiencing any of the conditions listed below may need a consultation prior to treatment:

  • Are currently suffering from cryoglobulinemia, a condition that causes proteins in the blood to increase due to cold temperature
  • Are currently pregnant or breastfeeding (future pregnancies can reverse final results)
  • Are currently using health devices such as pacemakers
  • Have suffered from nerve problems and conditions associated with chronic pain
  • Have suffered from skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, or dermatitis
