Photofacials IPL in Houston, TX

Forget your sunspots, rosacea and birthmarks with the help of the IPL Photofacial. Board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Cara Downey and Dr. Jamal Bullocks, and their expert team of professionals are proud to offer IPL Photofacials to residents of Houston, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, and the neighboring communities in east Texas.

What is an IPL Photofacial?

The IPL Photofacial is a unique facial rejuvenating treatment that utilizes the power of light energy to correct hyperpigmented skin around your treated areas, typically the face, neck, and décolletage. Unlike laser treatments that damage the surface of the skin and require a long recovery period, the IPL Photofacial uses different wavelengths of intense pulsed light to penetrate to the deeper layers of your skin and target the hyperpigmented regions. The pigmented cells simply absorb the heat from the light energy, die off, and are naturally eliminated from the body, leaving you with an even complexion.

How Much Does an IPL Photofacial Cost in Houston, TX?

The average cost of an IPL Photofacial in Houston typically starts at $350. The total cost for your IPL Photofacial will depend on factors such as your surgeon’s fee, the location of your procedure, and other miscellaneous medical expenses. At Heights Plastic Surgery, we accept cash and all major credit cards. We are also happy to offer financing through CareCredit® for patients.

How is an IPL Photofacial Performed?

Before your IPL Photofacial treatment begins, Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks will prepare your skin by thoroughly cleaning and applying a topical anesthetic to your desired treated area. This will ensure you will remain as comfortable as possible throughout the entirety of your treatment. Once numb, Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks will lay you down on one of our comfortable procedure tables and provide you with protective eyewear. They will then start applying bursts of intense pulsed light onto your desired treated area. While many patients are fairly comfortable throughout this procedure, most describe the feeling as though their skin is being snapped with a rubber band. Each treatment session typically takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

What Can I Expect After My IPL Photofacial?

Because microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment, there is no formal downtime or recovery period associated with the procedure. Most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities, including work, following their IPL Photofacial treatment. Following treatment, many patients experience their skin being red, swollen, and sensitive to the sun for the next few days. This is normal and typically resolves on its own. Dr. Downey and Dr. Bullocks advises you to moisturize your face and apply a medical-grade sunscreen every day to ensure a smooth and swift recovery.

While many patients may start to see the results of their IPL Photofacial after just one treatment, Dr. Downey and Dr. Bullocks typically recommends a series of three to six treatments spaced a few weeks apart to achieve ultimate results.

Am I a Good Candidate for an IPL Photofacial?

Good candidates for the IPL Photofacial are in good general health and have realistic expectations of the results they can expect from their treatment. Ideal candidates for the IPL Photofacial often desire to treat the following concerns.

  • Age spots
  • Sun damage
  • Freckles
  • Birthmarks
  • Varicose veins
  • Broken blood vessels
