Sagging or loose skin in the abdomen, hips, buttocks, and thighs can be removed with a lower body lift. This powerful body contouring procedure is used by the board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Cara Downey, to give the lower body a younger look and feel.

Here at Heights Plastic Surgery, Dr. Downey has performed over a hundred successful lower body lift procedures to patients throughout the greater Houston area.

COST OF LOWER BODY LIFT IN OUR PRACTICE

lower body lift houston

In Houston, lower body lift can cost $8,000 – $15,000. There are factors that may affect the final price of the procedures, such as the extent of the operation, the location of the surgery and other medical expenses including the operating room (OR) and anesthesia fees.

Heights Plastic Surgery accepts cash, major credit cards, and personal checks. An accurate quotation will be given to you during our initial consultation.

WHAT PROCEDURES ARE INVOLVED?

This procedure is mostly tailored to patients who underwent massive weight loss in a short period of time. The extent of lift varies per individual, so there are multiple techniques available that each target a different area of the lower body.

  • Belt Lipectomy
This is the ‘complete’ lower body lift procedure, which involves a circumferential incision along with your entire waste and along your outer thigh. The extent of these incisions enables a powerful lift on the entirety of the lower body, getting rid of fat, tightening muscles, and excising loose skin for a more contoured figure.
  • Tummy Tuck
A lower body lift performed specifically on the abdomen. The main purpose of a tummy tuck is to tighten the abdominal wall and remove stubborn fat and skin from the stomach. This restores abdominal strength in addition to rejuvenating the mid-section.
  • Inner Thigh Lift
A unique lower body lift technique that is not included in a belt lipectomy, but is often performed a few days after it. The incisions are located along your inner thigh, and like all lower body lift procedures, fat and excess skin is removed to reshape and resize the area.
  • Brazilian Butt Lift
This technique targets the back and buttock areas specifically. The result is a perkier and fuller backside, especially when combined with fat grafting.
  • Panniculectomy
Panniculectomy specifically targets loose skin. This is a procedure often performed after liposuction in order to better contour the body. The most common focus of panniculectomy is the stomach, but excess skin can be removed from any area of the lower body as needed.

HOW IS THE PROCEDURE PERFORMED?

  • Surgery Length
Lower body lifts vary in duration but take an average of 4 – 8 hours. Due to the nature of this procedure, it is necessary to lie on your stomach or side for most of the surgery.
  • Anesthesia
Lower body lifts are performed under general anesthesia.
  • Incisions
The depth and length of the incisions vary depending on the specific technique to be used. Before closing the incision, the surgeon will insert drainage tubes underneath the skin to allow excess fluid and blood to drain from the wound as you heal.
  • Sutures
The incision is closed using layered sutures, which help to ensure that the tissue does not stray from its new position.

WHAT IS THE EXPECTED RECOVERY?

You will need to stay in the hospital for 24 hours after the surgery to fully recover.

24 Hours After Surgery

  • You must wear the appropriate compression garments.
  • Drains may be replaced or cleaned as required.
  • Your surgeon will recommend oral painkillers to help control the pain.

1 – 3 Weeks After Surgery

  • Have a family member or friend on hand to assist you with your daily activities.
  • You may resume full-body showers after 2 days.
  • Practice walking around with your new body after 2 weeks, with the assistance of a loved one.
