Having completed a six-year integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at Baylor College of Medicine, one of the most prestigious programs in the country, Dr. Downey turned her focus towards breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery, including breast augmentation. She has now performed over 600 free flaps (i.e. “DIEP”) operations for autologous breast reconstruction following mastectomy for breast cancer. Now, the plastic surgery procedures she performs range from facelifts, to DIEP flap operations, to simple in-office procedures, including dermal fillers.
Downey’s passion for cosmetic surgery stems from her natural artistic ability. She enjoys painting, sketching, and sculpting and her art have been published in the form of a book cover. She is particularly interested in facial rejuvenation and body contouring, including restoration of the female figure after pregnancy, otherwise known as a mommy makeover. As a mother of two sets of twins, Dr. Downey has first-hand experience of the effects of childbearing on a woman’s body.
