My implants are 10 years old. Is that dangerous? 10 years is the average reasonable life span of breast implants. That does not mean that the implant is “expired” after 10 years and, as long as it is not causing any issues, it is safe to leave it alone. Some issues that typically arise within the average life span of 10 years may include capsular contracture, rupture, changes in the breast tissue over time or desire for a different size. Clues that one or several of these issues may be occurring include, firmness and especially discomfort, migration of the implant upwards, slippage of the breast volume off the bottom of the implant, and/or irregular shape or sensation. A breast implant exchange can solve these issues
