What is the difference between cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery? Cosmetic and plastic surgery are typically used synonymously, but do not have the same meaning in the medical world. “Cosmetic surgery” encompasses any procedure whose techniques focus solely on improving the outward appearance of a patient. On the other hand, “plastic surgery” refers to any procedure that involves reconstruction of an area of the body, whether that be scar revision, breast reconstruction, etc. You can learn more about the differences between a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon from the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. What is a “mommy makeover”? The term “mommy makeover” is quite common in the aesthetics space these days; but it means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. At minimum, a mommy makeover surgery should include addressing concerns within the breast and trunkle (the chest, abdomen, pelvis, and back) via a tummy tuck. However, each individual patient will work with their surgeon to build a custom mommy makeover plan for their unique needs. Additional procedures can be added to a mommy makeover surgery, including: Body lift Breast augmentation Breast reduction Breast lift Labiaplasty (or non-surgical labiaplasty with Viveve) Liposuction Skin tightening
What is the difference between board certified and non-board certified surgeons? Surgeons can practice medicine with or without board certification. However, board-certified surgeons have taken the extra step to gain recognition from the American Board of Medical Specialties. This certification indicates a dedicated expertise in the surgeon’s field of practice. Both Dr. Downey and Dr. Bullocks are board-certified specialists in their field, which gives them the unique opportunity to provide expert care to each of their patients.
What are our policies? Appointment Policy for Studio Essex Arriving more than 10 minutes late to any appointment will deprive one of their treatment time and the provider’s time. Arriving late to an appointment may result in cancellation and rescheduling, at our discretion, and a charge of our cancellation fee. If we are able to accommodate one in a safe and timely manner, we will make an effort to safely treat within the remaining time of the scheduled appointment. Cancellation, Rescheduling, and No-Show Policy for Studio Essex By scheduling an appointment with us, the patient agrees to our cancellation, reschedule and no-show policy. Our office follows a strict 48-hour cancellation, reschedule and no-show policy to ensure all patients can receive their treatments in a timely manner, while respecting everyone’s time. Any patient that reschedules/cancels within 48 hours of their appointment, no-shows, or arrives late will automatically forfeit their $75+ deposit. Fees will still be charged in the event that the appointment is scheduled by another party. New patients who no-show, arrive late, or cancel/reschedule within the 48 hours of their appointment, may be declined to be seen in the future. Established patients may be required to pre-pay for future services following a no-show, a late arrival or a cancellation/reschedule within 48 hours of their scheduled appointment. This prepaid amount is non-refundable. If an appointment is rescheduled 48 hours before the appointment time, this prepaid amount will be credited for future services. Refund Policy for Studio Essex We do not offer refunds on any services provided. Aesthetic results can vary greatly from person to person, and while we do our best to achieve the desired results, results cannot be guaranteed. Patients are responsible for additional treatments needed to achieve desired results. Refunds will not be issued for purchased skin care or any additional products. Defective products may be exchanged within 14 days for the same product only at the discretion of Studio Essex. No refunds on Gift Certificate purchases.
