What should I expect during a chemical peel treatment?

Before Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks begins your chemical peel, she will prep your skin by washing it thoroughly and removing any surface oils or dirt that may be left on the face. Additionally, Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks will take measures to protect your eyes and hair during the procedure. They will then systematically apply the chemical solution to small parts of the face until your entire face is covered evenly. Small, controlled burns will be produced by the chemicals, leaving behind the beautiful fresh skin. Many patients receiving a superficial or medium-depth chemical peel report a warm or hot sensation during the procedure. Deep chemical peels may involve some stinging, and Dr. Downey or Dr. Bullocks may prescribe pain medication.
